Biogas

On-Farm Biogas Plant

Preliminary Pit – Depending on the amount of dry matter in the waste substrate, we select the right pump to move the manure to the collection pit with minimal blockage.

Collections Pits – The liquid manure must be agitated to prevent stratification, so high-speed submersible mixers are needed at this stage.

Silage Water – Captured silage water can be used as fertilizer and pumped directly into the substrate end storage container.

Substrate Mixing – In order to maximize the potential energy of the substrate, it must be treated and processed. Homogeneity, temperature and solids content are the keys at this stage in the process.

Digester – Large “banana mixers” are used to ensure the controlled mixing of the substrate, as well as pushing gas bubbles to the surface.

Post-Digester – At this stage, the substrate is more fluid and requires less agitation. Compact and medium-sized mixers prevent stratification and help transport gas to the surface.

Condensate Pump – A key step in the biogas production system is the removal of water. The Flygt Compit is the ideal pump station for use as a collection pit for biogas percolating juices and condensate. Optional pumps with external choppers are available.

Substrate End Storage Container – The final destination for the fermented substrate is the end storage container. The substrate is homogenized with mixers and then a submersible pump moves it out for field application or for subsequent nutrient recovery.
